About us...

Tynrhyd is a Welsh owned business. From your initial query right through to check out, our aim is to provide you with the highest standard of customer service possible. My team & I offer you the warmest Welsh welcome and are on hand to help make your stay with us perfect.

Rebecca Hyslop joined the Tynrhyd team in August 2022. With a wealth of experience in customer focused services, people and operational management, Rebecca is my Operations Director for Tynrhyd Retreat. In a very short period of time since being at Tynrhyd, Rebecca has made significant improvements and implemented new services which have benefited our guests enjoyment of our wonderful Retreat Estate.

Tynrhyd was part of the Hafod Estate in the 1800’s and a working farm until 1995. When I took it over the barn was derelict (please see the image below) and the farmhouse quite sad. I loved the stone and oak character and rural, wild location and I believed others would too. The aim was to create a holiday experience with a difference.

Committed to sustainability and renewable energy I worked with Welsh Oak Frame and local suppliers. My goals were to create buildings and furnishings to the highest standard for large groups, families, friends and the corporate market, with an accent on well being.

Tynrhyd Barn opened in July 2015, and the Farmhouse in 2016. I'm so proud the Barn has won the LABC Building Award for Excellence, three buildings are Visit Wales four star graded and Cambrian House is five star graded.

I have been amazed by the positive responses, how much our guests love the buildings and grounds and return time and again. The labour of love was worth it!

We are so pleased to have great relationships with other local Welsh businesses and encourage our guests to visit the wonderful attractions, experience the culture and, of course, shop for holiday treats and mementos.

See you soon!
