Fantasy Farm

Fantasy Farm is a farm which has been opened up to the public to be able to enjoy the animals and other attractions they have there. The admission charge which you pay upon entry includes admission to the animal barn, pet handling, access to the indoor and outdoor play areas, feeding lambs during the lambing season and many other things. More information about Fantasy Farm can be found on their website - http://www.fantasyfarmpark.co.uk/

Cardigan Island Farm Park

Cardigan Island Farm Park is on the headland overlooking the nature reserve of Cardigan Island which is 250 metres off the mainland. From here it is possible to see bottlenose dolphins, Atlantic grey seals, seal pups (during the breeding season), harbour porpoises and many species of sea-birds. On the farm itself they have farm animals such as pigs, sheep, goats and more. They've also added a few other animals which you wouldn't usually find on a farm such as emus and llamas. More information about Cardigan Island Farm Park can be found on their website - http://www.cardiganisland.com/

Animalarium

Animalarium is a small zoo which has a variety of animals varying from rabbits and goats to lemurs and lions. Many of their animals are animals which were bought as pets but were brought to them when they could no longer be looked after. During your visit you will get an opportunity to hold a reptile such as a snake or a mammal such as a rabbit if you prefer fluffy animals. Its possible for visitors to witness the animals being fed such as the various big cats they have there. If you time it correct you may even have the opportunity to see the caimans being fed as they are only fed four times a week. More information about Animalarium can be found on their website - http://www.animalarium.co.uk

Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT)

CAT is the Centre for Alternative Technology which is in Corris, just outside Machynlleth. It's an education and visitor centre which demonstrates practical solutions for sustainability. They cover all aspects of green living such as environmental building, renewable energy and organic growing. CAT has the largest range of installed renewable systems anywhere. These systems include, solar thermal, hydro, biomass combined heat and power and a range of small to medium wind turbines. They are involved in the Dyfi Biosphere project which is the only UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) Biosphere in Wales. More information can be found on their website - http://www.cat.org.uk/index.html

Elan Valley

Elan Valley has a collection of six different dams within the valley. All but one of them are accessible by car to make it easier to reach them. Visiting the Elan valley can either be a short visit by visiting only the dam nearest the visitor centre or you could turn it in to a day trip by driving to some of the other dams in the area. The dams, reservoirs and the 73 mile aqueduct in the valley were built over 100 years ago to provide clean water that was desperately needed in Birmingham. More information along with the history of the dams can be found on their website - http://www.elanvalley.org.uk/
